Case Study

We provide an example of how a bespoke supply solution functions in the real world.

Our example relates to an engineering business that underwent the entire BSS review process and adopted the solution. In many cases, our BSS packages have saved our customers more than £1 million per annum. With challenging market conditions at present, there has never been a better opportunity to look into ways of streamlining the supply chain process to reduce costs. Our packages are designed specifically for this purpose.

The Solution

The supply solution covers 4 major areas:

  • Warehousing
  • Processing removal
  • Direct deliveries
  • Systems access
Warehousing

The engineering company's bonded and non-bonded stores area are removed, with Thames now acting as the company's material store and managing their stock inventory. Thames is now effectively managing all engineering raw material supply for the business and all the costs related to this process.

Processing Operations

Thames now provides all processing services, saving the customer costs in saw maintenance, warehousing, blades and scrap. The business can now focus on what matters - providing engineering services to their clients.

Delivery

All materials are now delivered to the customer direct to line side and booked in using our unique barcoding system . All engineering materials are delivered to the customer on a just-in-time (JIT) basis by utilising Thames's own vehcile fleet.

Systems Integration

The customer is given access to our bespoke IT platform which provides 24/7 stock visibility, test certificates, incoming purchasing orders and sub-contractors.
